Cowboy Films was originally set up by Lisa Bryer and Tim Pope to produce commercials and promos before moving into feature films. In 2001 Charles Steel joined the company to produce GOODBYE CHARLIE BRIGHT with Lisa Bryer, with whom he also produced THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND. Lisa then stepped back to take a non-executive role in the company and Charles took over as managing director. Alasdair Flind joined Cowboy Films as Charles' producing partner in 2007 and together they produced POPPY SHAKESPEARE.

Building on the success of POPPY SHAKESPEARE, the company is expanding further into television with Sara Murray joining the company as TV Development Producer. Sara previously worked at C4 drama.

Charles trained in film production at the Royal College of Art in London. On graduation he set up TAPSON STEEL FILMS where he produced his first feature AMY FOSTER (aka Swept From the Sea) - directed by Beeban Kidron and starring Ian McKellan and Rachel Weisz, the film was released wordlwide by Columbia TriStar.

Charles also co-produced NEW YEAR'S DAY and THE LOST LOVER before teaming up with Cowboy Films.

A former journalist, Alasdair has a background in film development and script editing and set up Prospect Entertainment to develop his own projects before joining Cowboy.
